Our Story
Our Mission
Mailbox Charities was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that a mailing address is not a luxury — it's a lifeline. Without one, people experiencing housing instability are locked out of the very systems designed to help them: government benefits, employment, healthcare, and official identification.
We exist to remove that barrier. By providing Virtual Mail addresses and Housing Transition services to individuals and families in Greater Atlanta, we help people take the first — and often hardest — step toward stability and a better future.
Mission Statement
"To empower individuals experiencing housing instability in Greater Atlanta by providing the foundational tools — a stable address and a clear path forward — that make everything else possible."
— Mailbox Charities
How We Started
Mailbox Charities was born out of a direct encounter with a gap in the system. Our founders, working alongside Atlanta's unhoused community, kept hearing the same story: people who were ready to work, ready to apply for housing, ready to rebuild — but couldn't, because they had no address to put on the form.
In 2018, we launched our Virtual Mail program with a small team and a big conviction: that this one barrier, if removed, could unlock everything else. The response was immediate. Within our first year, we had provided addresses to over 100 individuals — and watched as those addresses opened doors to jobs, benefits, IDs, and housing.
We expanded our Housing Transition services shortly after, recognizing that an address alone wasn't always enough. People needed guidance, connections, and someone to walk alongside them through the process. Today, Mailbox Charities serves hundreds of individuals and families across Greater Atlanta each year — and we're just getting started.
What Guides Us
Every person who walks through our doors is treated with unconditional respect. No judgment, no barriers — just support.
We protect the privacy of every individual we serve. Your story is yours to share on your own terms.
We are rooted in Greater Atlanta and guided by the needs of the communities we serve — not the other way around.
We don't just provide services — we equip people with the tools, resources, and confidence to build their own futures.
